In the year 1971, the war broke out in the then East Pakistan, and this ended in the creation of Bangladesh. EBD (The English Book Depot) Family paid a hefty price, as the youngest of all brothers who were part of the family martyred.
@snehlatadutt of The English Book Depot at Dehradun (www.englishbookdepot.com) was close to her brother-in-law and stood by him like a foster mother, as Dev Dutt, her husband, was close to Maj Ranvir Arora of the Punjab Regiment. This untimely demise was brutal for her. Dev Dutt (father of @sandutt) decided that @snehlatadutt should join him at the bookstore, and helped her find her passion as a bookseller, gave her a sense of belonging and became her staff for life. She not only stood by her husband through thick and thin, but she took charge in full as he, too, died at an early age.
With over 50 years of service, she has been a beacon of hope, a grandmother and a counsellor for many. The degradation of the bookshop to a Book Cafe in 2002 added a new hospitable dimension to her life, and the store and #BrewingKnowledge now took over as our raison d'ĂȘtre.
#ReadToLead @rupa_publications @teksonsbookshop @the_variety_book_depot @bookworlddehradun @natrajbooks The entire family looks up to her as an inspiration for life and living.
