2 Girls 1 Mic
In this episode of 2 Girls and 1 Mic, Simar and Oshi dive deep into the world of poetry—exploring what it means to them, sharing their favorite poems, and reflecting on the power of words to evoke emotion, thought, and connection. From Rumi's spiritual musings to Sylvia Plath's haunting Lady Lazarus, the hosts discuss how poetry can transcend language and culture, touching the soul unexpectedly.
Simar and Oshi also share their poetic creations, offering a glimpse into their journeys of self-expression and creativity. They reflect on how writing can help make sense of the chaos of life, serving as both a therapy and a form of personal discovery.
Tune in as Simar and Oshi discuss the rawness and authenticity of poetry, the beauty of capturing emotion in a few lines, and why everyone should give writing a shot—even if you don’t consider yourself a “poet.”
Simar and Oshi study at Gyanshree School in Noida.
We ❤️ Poetry -March 6, 2025
Brinda writes:
You must understand the whole of life, not just one part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, why you must sing, dance and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life.
Krishnamurti, Think on These Things
Questioner: Why must we read?
Krishnamurti: Why must you read? Just listen quietly. You never ask why you must play, why you must eat, why you must look at the river, why you are cruel – do you? You rebel and ask why you must do something only when you don’t like to do it. But reading, playing, laughing, being cruel, being good, seeing the river, the clouds – all this is part of life; and if you don’t know how to read, if you don’t know how to walk, if you are unable to appreciate the beauty of a leaf, you are not living. You must understand the whole of life, not just one tiny part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing, and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand; for all that is life.
#ThoughtfulThursdays
Poetry sessions on Thursdays focus on listening to and appreciating poetry as a form of art. Poetry for pleasure and enjoyment, poetry as a stress buster, and poetry to improve your lifestyle—that’s the motive! The March 7th session focused on the difference between Ballads and Narrative poems. We spent a short time understanding the nuances of a Ballad; most of the Poetry Session was used to make participants realise that poems are an outcome of our reflections and are spontaneous. Saloni, Nibbrati, and Neena shared some personal compositions. The highlight was Oshi, our Intern, sharing her creation!
Sandeep rightly encouraged teachers from GSA schools to join the Session to grow as teachers, and so we hit a century—we had 102 participants!
We concluded the Session by urging participants to write and share their creations and read “Think Different—the Apple Anthem!”

Masterclass -March 8, 2025
Reading Chapter 17, The Scottish Incubator: The Man Who Saw Tomorrow by Naga Tummala
Q1. "There is more in us than we know. If we can be made to see it, perhaps for the rest of our lives, we will be unwilling to settle for less" – Kurt Hahn.
Actual growth often comes from overcoming doubts, fears, and limitations rather than external challenges. As educators, how can we create environments that empower students to push past self-imposed barriers and reach their full potential?
Q2. Imagine you are designing a school curriculum where students learn as much outside the classroom as inside. What real-world experiences would you incorporate to develop resilience and leadership skills in students?
Q3. A student in your class consistently misses deadlines and avoids responsibilities. At Gordonstoun, students are expected to self-report mistakes and take corrective actions. Instead of punishment, how would you create a system that encourages students to take accountability for their actions?
Q4. Hahn advocated for placing students in controlled, challenging situations to build resilience. How can we design safe yet challenging learning experiences that prepare students for real-world problem-solving?
