In 2012, fresh from my role as the National Director for The Duke Of Edinburgh's International Award in India, I set out how to best empower young people. The schools I had visited over three decades all had one thing in common: student agency, which makes all the difference for #JoyOfLearning. It made me think, and I travelled across the country for a year to conduct workshops called YES by the Young People - Youth Engaging Society.
The Spirit of YES
The simple three-letter word is one of the most influential and positive words. An affirmative expression is an answer that shows agreement or acceptance. Youth Engaging Society (YES) is the only way to empower and help the youth build a better world. For us, every person is a full 10/10. What matters is our emphasis on each of the four S's—service, Skill, Sport, and Study. For some, 'Study' could be a full 10, and for some 'Sports' could be 10, yet the complete individuals will value each of the four S's and find themselves.
